WhatsApp the popular messaging platform has updated their terms and privacy policy for the first time in four years. Facebook acquired WhatsApp back in 2014, during that time co-founder of WhatsApp confirmed in the blog post, that the privacy of user data will be kept confidential.
But now, the company has announced that it will share the user data with its parent company Facebook for better connections and to allow businesses to messages its user in coming days. As per the new policy, your phone number registered with WhatsApp will be linked to Facebook databases, but it won’t be shared with any third parties. But, they use your number to suggest better connections and related ads for you. Still, no ads will be placed inside WhatsApp is the only good thing about the updated privacy terms.
How To Stop WhatsApp from sharing the User data to Facebook:
You can stop your WhatsApp account from sharing the data to Facebook. Here are the steps to do the same.
1. After the new update rolled out, you will be notified of the new terms and privacy policy.
2. Click on the Read link and scroll down. You will find Share my account information with Facebook with a check box.
3. Uncheck the box to stop sharing the user data and then Agree.
If you have checked the box accidentally, you can still disable it within 30 days.
1. Open WhatsApp and go to settings.
2. Under Settings > Account – Find Share my account info.
3. Untick the checkbox to stop sharing the data with Facebook.
